²⁹ Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out to the place about which the Lord promised, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the Lord has promised good concerning Israel.”

³⁰ Hobab said to him, “I will not go, but I will go to my own land and to my own relatives.”

³¹ Moses said, “Please do not leave us, because you know where we should camp in the wilderness. You can be our eyes.
